Course Description 

In this 7-week immersive Spanish unit, students will learn how to describe their home, identify household objects, explain where items are located, and talk about responsibilities in the home using practical, everyday Spanish. Through interactive activities, movement-based learning, partner speaking practice, storytelling, and visual supports, students will build confidence communicating about familiar spaces and routines.

Students will develop the ability to name rooms in the house, describe objects found in each space, explain where items are located using location phrases, and discuss chores and responsibilities they complete at home. Instruction is delivered primarily in Spanish to support natural language acquisition and listening comprehension while encouraging students to speak in meaningful ways.

Throughout the unit, students will participate in guided speaking tasks that prepare them for a final presentation in which they give a visual house tour in Spanish.

By the end of the unit, students will be able to:

• describe rooms in a house
• identify and name common household objects
• explain where items are located using location expressions
• talk about what they do in different rooms
• describe household chores and responsibilities
• make simple family-related requests in Spanish

Final Performance Task (Week 7)

Students will create a visual house presentation with a spoken Spanish tour in which they:

• describen su casa
• explican dónde están los objetos
• dicen qué hacen en cada cuarto
• presentan sus quehaceres
• hacen peticiones familiares

This project allows students to demonstrate growth in listening, speaking, reading, and early writing skills through meaningful real-world communication.

Inmersión 1.0 -

• is an intensive one on one course that focuses on building language acquisition in all forms of communication (speaking, reading, writing, listening). The course targets the 3 modes of communication, (interpretive, interpersonal, communicative) and uses the Communicative Language Teaching Method to promote native fluency. 
• The purpose of this course is to enable students to understand everyday Spanish while developing skills to express their selves in common situations. It includes a study of pronunciation, vocabulary, and novice-novice high levels of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. An introduction to everyday culture of the Spanish-speaking world supports the language study.
  
•  At the end of the course, you should be able to understand, though the speaker may have to repeat or reword. You should comprehend simple sentences and questions and you should be able to speak by combining and recombining learned elements into short conversations.
  

In this 7-week reading-based Spanish course, students will strengthen their Spanish fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension skills by reading and interacting with popular childhood stories in Spanish. Through guided reading, listening activities, vocabulary exploration, and speaking practice, students will grow more confident recognizing familiar language patterns and expressing ideas in Spanish.

Throughout the session, students will read and explore the following stories:

• Huevos verdes con jamón
• Pollito Tito
• Los tres cerditos
• La cucarachita Martina

As students engage with these stories, they will practice pronunciation, build reading fluency, expand vocabulary, and participate in discussions and activities that support comprehension and communication in Spanish. Instruction will include interactive storytelling, repeated reading strategies, and opportunities for students to respond to texts through speaking, drawing, and short written responses.

By the end of the session, students will demonstrate increased confidence reading Spanish aloud and understanding familiar story structures in Spanish.
